Lighter than IS-F V8 and have more torque. It’ll be good engine to fight against other high power engine in D1GP!

580PS out of FA20 engine… that’s hellova lot of power! Also amazing thing is tire spec. F215/45-17 & R245/40-17. When it get’s to that much hp, a lot of tune cars goes one size higher for more stable and able to put power to the ground.
Out of all the 86 in D1GP, it’s not doing great due to a lot of reason (engine & Suspension). BUT I think, when they get the setup correct this beast will go in top 5 machine.

When I think of Manabu Orido (aka Max Orido), first car come to mind is his personal car Toyota Supra, which is pushing well over 550whp. Last year in D1GP, he have brought Supra into it and came out 13th place.
Reason it’s called “V86” is cause, it has 2UZ Lexus IS-F engine instead of FA20 boxer engine. V86 is pushing well over 600hp NA and all the power only goes into the rear wheels.

Taniguchi Nobuteru (NOB) with HKS Supercharger 86, Tetsuya Nibino with UP Grade EJ Turbo 86, Ken Nomura (NomuKen) with Blitz 2JZ 86. All of them have different setups. It’ll be interesting to see how all those 86 works and plays in D1GP.
Not sure anyone is following Manabu Orido’s GT86 project. He has a guts enough to put Lexus IS-F V8 (2UR) engine inside all new Toyota 86. What I’m talking about is over 400 HP in this small lightweight car.
He didn’t finish it there… of course, he didn’t. That’s why he’s known as “MAX” orido. Help of VARIS, most of exterior parts car carbon Fiber… that include the roof too! Wish by Orido, they’ll be using “Semi-Dry Carbon Fiber” and see how much weight they can shave it off.
Recently they went to Mobara Twin Circuit to do some shakedown and here’s the vid of it
Sadly, right after finish the shakedown, engine broke down. Currently, they’re working overtime to finish it in time for D1GP in Odaiba.
I hope, engine will be fixed in time for Odaiba.
